Keller Williams & the WMD'S: Lincoln Theatre, Raleigh NC

I have been a Keller Williams fan for a while and have seen his solo shows on many different occasions. I always loved watching him play and really enjoy his sound. He is a fun guy to watch play, that is for sure, but he has always been missing a band.

Keller has played on many different occasions with the String Cheese Incident (SCI) and man those shows just blow you away. I have never had the pleasure of seeing the Keller Williams Incident play live. I have only been able to hear the live shows that I have downloaded at bt.etree.org .

Well recently Keller has put together his dream band for his DREAM album that was released in 2007. This band is Keller Williams, Keith Moseley, Gibb Droll, and Jeff Sipe. So when the WMD’s decided to come to Raleigh, North Carolina to play I had to be there.

The only person other than Keller that I knew in his band was Gibb Droll. I have seen the Gibb Droll Band (GDB) play many times while I was in school at Appalachian State University. The first time I saw the GDB play must have been in 1993. The GDB was a blues band with a heavy Stevie Ray Vaughn sound. Gibb could rock the house and bring it down.

After seeing this show, I will have to say that Keller should never give up his new band. They had a rich full sound. The band worked so well together, and everyone played to the top of the abilities. No one was holding back, and the energy there was just amazing. The Lincoln theater was packed full of people on this Sunday night and I truly hope I get a chance to see these guys play again.

I watched Keller a few times with the WMDs and they were great but solo Keller is my preferance. That's what makes Keller, Keller.

I just find it amazing how well Keller plays with a band backing him up. For example when he did Keller Williams Incident at Bonnaroo it just blew my mind. I am not really a big SCI fan, but when Keller is kicking it with them, it makes for a really special event.
