Read/Write to NTFS Drives on Mac OS X
If you are looking to connect a NTFS external drive to your Mac OS X system, then you need to do a little tweaking to your system to get full control over the drive. Currently Macs have the ability to read data from a NTFS partitioned drive, but is unable to write to that drive. This is pretty much useless in my opinion. If I need just read only storage, I would burn DVD’s.
If you want to be able to read and write data to your NTFS external drives, then all you have to do is install these two pieces of software.
The NTFS-3G and MacFuse software will work together so NTFS external drives are mounted correctly. I downloaded the [ublio] version of NTFS. It has better performance than the stable version. If you have issues you can always force the drive to work in the stable mode. More about NTFS-3G can be read in there user documentation .
There are many different software options to do this, but they all seem to cost a pretty penny. I hate paying money for software, and why would I when the community has produced such a great solution for me.
